According to Team rider Joa's mom(Epic shuttle driving lady that she is)its the Mary's Ville festival of speed this week. Many of our team riders made the trip up to the northwest of the states to put themselves to the test and get to the bottom of the hill first or die trying.
Among the team riders there are Joel, Joa, Alex and some asian guy who isnt Chris. (just kidding Richard!)
We who had to stay home wish our team mates all the best of luck! Bring home a podium guys!
Ahhhh, Maryhill, how I wish I could be there.
In other news, "Dirtbag" Tom Stetler joins those of us in the NOCO area and is HUNGRY to do some skating. Hes currently short one speedboard however, so maybe give him a week or so to get a new one but make sure to give him a call soon to do some skating! Good to have you up here Tommy, although honestly, I wish you didnt have to be all things considered.
Included is an older picture that ive always like, one that shows Deity in its youth, back before all the top mounted goodness.
so its about time to put together a little edit about my time in Canada!!
I was lucky enough to get to spend 7 days in Canada, skating, chilling, and generally having a good time.
Day 1
Linds dropped my off at the airport, early in the morning.... boring hours and hours of sitting, waiting, flying, etc... Awesome Canada customs took all my smokes. JERKS.
took the skytrain to downtown van to wait for my ride. Two hours and three chais later, my ride arrived! Arrived at Dubes house where we ended up grilling and drinking a few beers. The ground dried up shortly after dinner was finished... and Pidgen and Travis took us on our first bp session! What a difference Canada roads are to RADo roads... stop signs, 90 degree corners... but still fun. I hung back and chilled, very fun. After the session headed back to dubes to chill and get ready to skate JAKES RASH in the morning.
Day 2 JAKES RASH
Early morning drive to the ferry was foggy and wet. Not looking good for race time. Ended up driving in behind the landy van where we chilled and talked until we loaded up on the ferry. The ferry was rad. I've never been on a ferry, and it was rad. The bay, mountains, and islands in every direction. EPIC.
Finally, we loaded off the ferry and a short drive later were at the JAKES. It was wet. barely. The hope of a dry road lingered on the horizon. Alas, the rain gods love to crush dreams. It rained RAINED and rained that day. I've never skated in so much water. It was terrifying, and awesome.
Skitched out on one of the corners and went from 1st to 4th in seconds. DAM traction. check out this video edit of the race by Jackson!!
Headed out, got on the ferry, and crashed at the house.... more skating to come.
Day 3
Cheap and awesome breakfast at Bons. YUMMY. Saw my good friend and old school NOCO rider JOSH Weisfield, the kid who i started to dh with.
epic session at the BPS TONS of people, lots of riding. EPIC.
Headed to cypress and connector road after the bp session.... Connector is the GNARest switchbacks i have ever seen. 22% grade (or something ridiculous like that.) into two hairpins. The first run left me breathless and with a huge black bruise on my ass. BUMMer. Skated more cypress with the sector crew... Dinner at an all you can eat sushi place. YUM. Beers and sleep before another day of SKATING!
Day 4
Another cheap and awesome breakfast at bons. Double yum.
EPIC HUGE AND AWESOME session on cypress. Deiy, Sayshun, Skunktech, Hopkins, Otang, Longbrdlarry, Sundae, 5 Mile, Sector, and a couple others were represented. Check out Jeff and Riley's vid that highlights cypress (look for the yellow aero lid). draft train action at 60 plus. boom.
Super fun night downtown with the Puerto Rico boys, Kyle Wester, and James Kelly. Skating in traffic, tons of bars, and chilling by the bay.
This was my fav night of the trip.
Headed back to Dubes to sleep and head to goldrush in the morn.
Day 5 SAT GOLD RUSH.
Hopped in with the puerto rico boys to drive to gold rush! It was wet wet wet. I seriously NEVER saw the sun while i was in Canada. Goldrush has to be one of the SICKEST racecourses I have ever had the honor of attending. Fast, tech, and downright hard to skate in the wet rainy conditions.
I look stoked, but I'm not.
Fish and chips and fricking killer here. YEAH.
night of chilling and drying out clothes at the camp. set up my tent and got ready for RACE day.
Day 6 SUN GOLD RUSH
Woke up to a the sound of bloody murder coming from the loco. Someone got mad and threw a shit ton of stuff in the fire. I laughed as I sat and watched it happen... skaters crack me up.
Headed to the hill to SKATE!!!
Thanks GOD it was kinda dry. After one practice run it dried up and was ready to rip. Super fun day of skating. Zen and Reimer ended up taking me out, wish i would have had some dry practice on this course. Bummer. Check out the rayne video!
Had a chill night with Cal, Mark the Shark, and Kyle...
Parted ways with the puerto rico boys who were so good to kyle and I... THANKS GUYS!! Got ready to head back to the states in the morning.
Day 7.
Driving, flying, waiting, sitting, more flying.... Finally returning home to my BELOVED RADo.
All in all I had a great time. Lots of rad skating with rad people. Thank you Canada for your hospitality! Special thanks to Cody of 5 mile for being rad, Dubes for letting me crash at his house, the puerto rico boys for driving my ass around, Sundae skates for being awesome, and Mark the Shark and Cal for getting me to the airport!!!
Epic sesh this last weekend. Rolled to Estes park to do a early morning sesh on one of our most EPIC roads.
After gulping down some tasty margs at Estes most premier restaurant, we passed out so we could wake up at 5am to go skate.
Despite the early morning haziness, the sesh was epic. Myself, Zak Maytum, Kyle Wester, Calvin Staub, and Justin Dubois raged the rocky mtns that morning!!
It was a Deity day all day long at the NOCO Outlaw!
Phil placed in the top 10,
Alex was in 4th,
Joa came out in 2nd place
And of course Joel and his glorious pecs held up the world in 1st!
It was an utterly awesome day! We had moms, dads, even grandmas present to watch. Special thanks goes out to team Pagan, Jim Callahan supplied some surprise schwag for all the little groms(and the big ones too!)to enjoy.
Hopefully Chriszorsatrons5000 will have up some pics of the event real soon!
Here is a video from Mr. Rolo!

Diety sweep through the whole NOCO Season in my opinion!!!
Noco Outlaw series officially launches with its first race!
Hopefully the entire team will be there shredding hard and representing! Lets show ColoRADo how hungry we are for hometown podiums and tear it to pieces!
30+ confirmed racers, hopefully a few stragglers will appear as well.
GET SOME and get PUMPED!!!
See you all tomorrow for some racing fun!
Also included is a random picture of Joel, modeling some jeans.
